PODOSTRIGILES

The Podostrigiles® (derived from the strigil used in Roman baths) is the major instrument of the Phytomassopodia® method, manufactured in non-toxic, non-allergenic, sterilisable material that does not alter over time.
The Podostrigiles® has the features of a foot (hence “podo”) and the function of a massage scraper (from the “strigil” of ancient Rome); it has the dimensions of a closed spoon and the appearance of a “split bean”, and is to be considered as the logical extension of the hand, which it replaces on contact with the epidermis. Clay tablets from the library of Alessandria in Egypt document its use back to the time of Queen Cleopatra, for whom it had to be replaced after every massage.

The Aleiptès, the massager of ancient Greece, belonged to a professional order, and the strigil was so important for the activity that it became the symbol of the order itself, as reported in numerous historic testimonials of the time. The path to well-being of the Roman baths included massage carried out with the strigil, as documented in numerous frescoes.

The Podostrigiles® is a massage instrument protected by an international patent that bears witness to its novelty, uniqueness, incomparable in its forms and use. Each of its parts is designed to stand alongside the three aspects of the method: phlebological, mechanical and reflex, and thanks to this valuable instrument the operator obtains a deeper, more accurate result, without adverse side effects. Just as the strigil was the symbol of the anointers of ancient Greek athletics, so today the Podostrigiles® is the symbol of modern operators trained according to the quality standards of the WFA - Wellness from Feet Academy.
